My work stems from a deep connection to the theme of the vessel and a visceral need to work with my hands. Working on the wheel using Limoges porcelain or dark stoneware clay, I create unique and subtle variations of this timeless form. Born and raised in Istanbul, I received my bachelor’s degree in media arts with emphasis on photography from Emerson College in Boston, MA. I attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI to study arts foundation, during which time I explored drawing, painting, ceramics and metal-smithing, but it was ceramics that resonated with me deeply. Later I moved to Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom, “the motherland” of studio pottery, and received my master’s in ceramic design from Staffordshire University. Since establishing my studio practice, I have been exhibiting my work widely in galleries and art fairs in Europe and the United States. My work is represented in numerous private collections worldwide and I also work to commission.
